About Cheam

Cheam is a town in South London where it lies on the border of Greater London and Surrey. Cheam is split into two main areas; North Cheam and Cheam Village / South Cheam. North Cheam consists of a partly residential area and a larger retail high street with a wide range of shops, restaurants, fast food establishments and a super market. Whereas Cheam village as suggested by its name is predominantly residential with a small village consisting of a few shops and restaurants.

Cheam has a very rich history focused predominantly on Nonsuch Park; with its royal connections dating back to the 1500s where it was given to Henry the VIII. Nonsuch palace was erected as one of the most grand palaces in England. Unfortunately this no longer stands today however Nonsuch mansion is its tribute. The park and mansion with its beauty garden can be visited from any of the three entrances. Two on the Stoneleigh side along the A24 and the other entrance in Cheam village on the A232. Each entrance has its own free car park so why not take a picnic and make a day of it.

Cheam Village - This quaint village with its historic buildings is a beautiful sight and one not to be missed as still today it gives an insight into its fascinating Tudor past.

Nonsuch Park, Mansion and Gardens - This is where it all happened; the sight of the famous Nonsuch Palace. It is no longer standing today, but in its place is the mansion and gardens which are a serene marvel; and a great day out.
