Prior to being named as Liverpool John Lennon Airport, it was originally called Speke Airport. It was in 2001 that it was changed to its current name. This was 21 years after John Lennon died. Moreover, it’s the first airport in UK to be named after a person.
Unlike other airports, it only has one terminal that can hold over 5.5 million passengers and take them to more than 60 destinations per year.
